In a nutshell, it's using the server structure and multiple IP addresses to your advantage to increase and control your number of backlinks and to jump start your link popularity. An address tells you a lot about someone. For example, if you live in Atlanta, GA and your address is 391 W Paces Ferry Rd NW, 30305, you're probably the Governor of Georgia.

If your zip code is 35621, you probably live in rural Alabama.

Instead of enduring the constant bumper-to-bumper BMWs in front of multi-million dollar houses like the Georgia Governor, you might find yourself stuck behind a parade of Ford tractors on a 2-lane road.

The address tells you a lot.

Your domain IP is your address on the internet.

Comparing two domain IPs is similar to comparing two zip codes.

Zip code 30305 is in Georgia; 35621 is in Alabama. Just as a zip code has standard format, so does an IP address.

The IP structure looks like this: AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD. Those four parts of an IP address are known as "A", "B", "C" and "D" blocks. (This is important, so hold on to that structure for a second.)
